About the position

As a Research AST in Earth Sciences Remote Sensing with the Biospheric Science Branch, you will lead and develop projects aimed at advancing Earth science knowledge. This role involves collaboration with a team of scientists to create a resilient world through innovative research and stakeholder engagement. You will also be responsible for securing funding and guiding junior team members while promoting NASA's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Develop NASA Earth Exchange (NEX) Research and Technology (RT) goals, objectives, and metrics in collaboration with the NEX Project Scientist.
• Monitor and manage the RT budget and progression towards goals and objectives.
• Lead efforts to secure funding for innovative work by the NEX team through proposals and work plans.
• Serve as a national expert in environmental remote sensing and provide guidance on U.S. national activities.
• Act as Principal Investigator on environmental remote sensing science activities aligned with NASA Earth Science Division elements.
• Guide work by junior team members and act as a scientific adviser to postdoctoral fellows.
• Deliver presentations to project officials, managers, scientists, and official visitors.
• Disseminate research results through presentations and publications in scientific journals.
• Represent NEX at internal and external events and foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation.

Requirements

• Specialized experience in environmental remote sensing and research proposal evaluation.
• Experience leading or supporting research in environmental remote sensing and describing results in technical settings.
• Experience leading or supporting inter-agency or inter-organizational activities.
