About the position

The Research Professional, Analyst position at the University of Chicago's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology involves a multifaceted role focused on the execution and documentation of various experiments. The successful candidate will engage in designing primers and DNA constructs, performing DNA cloning, and conducting protein expression and purification. Additionally, the role encompasses structure determination and the analysis and simulation of protein structures, which are critical for understanding biomolecular interactions at an atomic level. In this position, the Research Professional will also be responsible for preparing presentations, posters, and reports to communicate findings effectively. A significant aspect of the role includes training other group members on both experimental and computational techniques, ensuring that knowledge is shared and that the team operates cohesively. The candidate will assist with laboratory tasks, which may include writing grant applications and managing computer time allocations, thereby contributing to the overall success of the research projects. The Research Professional will perform experiments, collect and analyze data, and actively participate in promoting research projects. This includes co-authoring scientific research manuscripts and providing peer reviews for grant applications and manuscripts. Collaboration with academic and community-based organizations to develop new research projects is also a key responsibility. The role may require presenting work at scientific meetings, showcasing the research conducted within the lab. Other related duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and engaging position within a collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through relevant education and experience.
