About the position

The Research Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with the faculty principal investigator, Dr. Elizabeth Will, on NIH-funded grant projects that focus on young children with neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly Down syndrome. This role is pivotal in conducting participant assessments and managing data, including the oversight of the REDCap database. The coordinator will also be responsible for preparing reports for families and funding agencies, as well as assisting with outreach and recruitment efforts, which may involve creating content for websites and newsletters. Additionally, the position entails training and supervising undergraduate and graduate research assistants on study protocols, ensuring that all team members are well-versed in the necessary procedures and standards. The position requires travel within the Southeastern United States for participant assessments and outreach events, as well as potential national travel for conferences. This role is particularly suited for research Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), individuals planning to pursue PhD programs in Communication Sciences, Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, or related fields, or those seeking a long-term research position that offers a higher level of intellectual stimulation and challenge. The coordinator will play a crucial role in the success of the research projects by ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and effectively, while also maintaining a supportive environment for both participants and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Administer standardized and experimental assessments to children with developmental disorders and their families, including scheduling and processing completed data.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities, overseeing the general flow and coordination of assessments among project staff.
  • Recruit, screen, enroll, and schedule research participants, including coordinating travel arrangements and community engagement events.
  • Train and onboard new project staff on study protocol and lab procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience working with families who have children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Experience conducting human subjects clinical assessments for research.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements for human subjects research.
  • Experience with REDCap data management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience working with infants with developmental delays and/or complex medical conditions.
  • Experience in recruitment and outreach for research.
