About the position

The Research Program Manager/Lab Manager at Harvard University will oversee daily operations within the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, focusing on the management of research projects, compliance reporting, and laboratory protocols. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and effective communication with various stakeholders, including funders and collaborators. The position is integral to maintaining the lab's operational efficiency and supporting a large portfolio of grants and research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations including staffing, training, budgets, and supplies.
  • Coordinate research projects with the Principal Investigator (PI) and ensure compliance reporting.
  • Develop and optimize research and laboratory protocols.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members.
  • Draft budgets, budget justifications, and scientific reports for grants and contracts.
  • Manage equipment upkeep and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Facilitate communication with funders, collaborators, and during journal clubs.
  • Order supplies and manage shipping and handling in compliance with Harvard policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or related field required.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and SAS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
