About the position

The Research Program Manager at William & Mary oversees the student experience within the Conservation Research Program (CRP) of the Institute for Integrative Conservation (IIC). This role is pivotal in designing and evaluating student learning objectives, recruiting participants, coaching students in applied research, and managing logistics. The Manager plays a crucial role in promoting diversity and inclusion in the conservation field, particularly for underrepresented groups, while advancing the IIC's mission to address urgent conservation challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate student learning objectives for the Conservation Research Program.
• Recruit participants for various research initiatives.
• Coach students in applied research and professional skill development.
• Manage travel and research logistics for student projects.
• Promote stories related to CRP activities and student experiences.

Requirements

• Graduate Degree in a field related to integrative conservation, such as natural or social sciences.
• 2-4 years of experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating conservation actions with measurable impacts.
• Experience in conducting applied conservation research in collaboration with various partners.
• Ability to work with diverse partners, including local communities and government agencies.
• Strong passion for mentoring students and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Commitment to the goals and values of the Institute for Integrative Conservation.

Nice-to-haves

• Proven experience working with interdisciplinary teams on research projects.
• Experience teaching students about conservation or the research process.
• Experience traveling or working outside the U.S.
• Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
