About the position

The Research Programmer/Analyst II at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice is responsible for supporting research programming and analytic activities for principal investigators and their project teams. This role involves utilizing administrative claims datasets and other supporting data to contribute to health services and economics research, presentations, and grant proposals. The position is integral to studying patient usage and payment for healthcare, aiming to inform policy-relevant research through economic analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Support research programming and analytic activities for principal investigators and their project teams.
  • Utilize large claims datasets, surveys, and electronic health record data for research.
  • Implement economic analyses to inform policy-relevant research.
  • Contribute to the publication of health services and economics research work.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and grant proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in programming/analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience writing algorithms and implementing statistical methods to structured data.
  • Professional experience with SAS, R, and STATA statistical software.
  • Experience with medical claims datasets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a research setting.
  • Two years of experience in a technical leadership or mentorship role.
  • Experience working with medical claims data in CMS's Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC).
  • Experience with Python, Java, or similar.
  • Knowledge of data mining and predictive analytics with machine learning.
