The Research Project Coordinator for the CAN Lab at the University of Georgia will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation of various research protocols. This position requires effective communication with community leaders and liaisons, as well as participant screening and data collection in the field. The coordinator will manage lab staff schedules, recruit lab staff volunteers, and handle financial reporting. Additionally, the role involves managing computers, software licenses, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment. The coordinator will also be responsible for obtaining human subjects approval and assisting the data manager with data management and analysis. In this role, the coordinator will direct, plan, and coordinate all activities related to the lab's primary functions. This includes monitoring activities for compliance with sponsor, Institutional Review Board (IRB), and University of Georgia policies and procedures. The coordinator will support the Principal Investigator (PI) in all lab activities by communicating progress in data collection, analysis, management, and reporting, as well as staff performance and process improvements. Facilitating teamwork and information sharing will be essential to the success of the lab's operations. The coordinator will supervise and mentor all lab staff, providing coaching, performance management, and conducting annual performance reviews. Regular communication with the PI regarding staff performance and progress is crucial. The coordinator will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training new staff members, ensuring that the lab is staffed with qualified individuals who can contribute to its research goals. Data collection is a significant aspect of this position, where the coordinator will oversee and participate in the implementation of research protocols for recruitment and retention, as well as data collection. This includes overseeing research coordinators, assisting with recruitment and screening of subjects, obtaining consent and enrollment, and ensuring accurate demographic information for follow-up. The coordinator will perform data collection through cognitive testing and research interviews with individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and control subjects. Finally, the coordinator will provide fiscal oversight of sponsored project budgets, ensuring that project activities align with budgetary constraints and timelines. Close collaboration with the PI and the Office of Institutional Behavioral Research (OIBR) will be necessary to ensure that activities and personnel are charged to the correct sponsored projects and to address any potential budget issues that may arise.
