About the position

The Research Project Coordinator, Entry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) will play a vital role in supporting the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study. This position involves ensuring compliance with study protocols, overseeing participant recruitment and retention, and managing data collection visits with families. The coordinator will work closely with principal investigators and study staff to facilitate research logistics and maintain high standards of data collection and participant interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage research project logistics, including designing and implementing new procedures under the direction of principal investigators.
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of study participants.
  • Run data collection visits with participants, including explaining the study to families and completing compliance forms.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and complete study visits (virtual or in-person) including EEGs, MRIs, and behavioral assessments with infants and children.
  • Collect, process, and ship biological samples from participants.
  • Coordinate study protocols with a 25 site consortium.
  • Train study staff on study organization and procedures.
  • Regularly meet with staff to assess study obstacles and successes, reporting back to the principal investigators.
  • Ensure compliance with consortium data collection standards and communicate progress with the consortium.
  • Prepare materials needed for data collection prior to research visits and oversee administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in relevant field and 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Basic computer and office-related skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Very strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for most of the business day.
  • Ability to work with families and children.
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to express complex ideas and processes to study participants, co-workers, and supervisors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Major studies in Psychology, Biology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with pregnant people, parents, and children.
  • Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with infants.
  • Experience with brain imaging in a research setting.
  • REDCap data tool experience highly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
