About the position

The Research Project Coordinator for Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is a vital role focused on the SCAN! (Skin Cancer Awareness Now!) community pharmacy skin cancer prevention intervention. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure the successful administration of the project. The coordinator will assist the Principal Investigator in ensuring that pharmacists and student pharmacists receive appropriate training for the intervention. Additionally, the coordinator will monitor recruitment and data collection efforts, and may assist with data collection at local pharmacies. The role involves participating in data and resource collection, storage, management, auditing, and security as directed by research and program leadership. The coordinator will produce reports, research summaries, and contribute to various publications and grant submissions. Ensuring timely and accurate entry of all required research data is crucial, as is overseeing data collection, which includes conducting interviews with study participants. The coordinator will maintain detailed records of study activities, problem-solve to overcome delays, and design data collection tools as needed. Moreover, the coordinator will develop a manual of operations for research studies, implement research protocols, and assist principal investigators in resource evaluation and designation. The role also includes gathering materials for progress reports and conducting fidelity checks to ensure the intervention is delivered as planned. Weekly team meetings will be planned and led by the coordinator, who will also schedule meetings for co-investigators, partners, and stakeholders. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities for the SCAN! community pharmacy skin cancer prevention intervention.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator in training pharmacists and student pharmacists for the intervention.
  • Monitor recruitment and data collection efforts, assisting locally with data collection at pharmacies as needed.

  • Assist principal investigators in evaluating and designating resources for research projects.
  • Gather and update materials needed for progress reports and investigator-related activities.
  • Conduct fidelity checks to ensure the intervention is delivered as planned.
  • Plan and lead weekly team meetings and schedule meetings for co-investigators, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, or related Health Sciences field.
  • Two years of program management experience, or a Master's Degree in lieu of experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a study team.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfort with quantitative data collection and scientific writing.
  • Experience in community-based health research and public presentation.
