This role is pivotal in managing the day-to-day operations of various research studies, ensuring that all activities align with established protocols and regulatory requirements. The Research Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating data maintenance, adhering to grant expenditures, evaluating project outcomes, scheduling meetings, and interfacing with research subjects. This position serves as a crucial point of contact for study participants, research personnel, and support staff, ensuring effective communication and adherence to good clinical practices. In this role, the Research Project Coordinator will independently manage communications with the Principal Investigator, study participants, and sponsors, overseeing the operational and evaluative aspects of research studies. The coordinator will utilize evaluation techniques and innovative problem-solving skills to address non-routine issues that may arise during the research process. A significant part of the job involves recruiting and screening volunteers for research studies, developing recruitment strategies, and ensuring that participants are well-informed about study objectives, requirements, risks, and benefits before obtaining their consent. The coordinator will also lead the collection and management of study data, which includes developing data collection instruments, maintaining databases, and performing quality checks on the data collected. They will be responsible for tracking, reporting, and auditing study data and regulatory documentation, and may supervise data entry personnel while conducting non-routine data analysis. Additionally, the Research Project Coordinator will develop and produce reports summarizing study data for project staff and stakeholders, analyze data to draw conclusions, and contribute to publications or grant applications. Monitoring compliance with protocols and relevant regulations is another critical aspect of this position. The coordinator will assist in budget development, ensure adherence to expenditures, and maintain inventory of necessary equipment and supplies. The role may also involve obtaining, processing, and transporting specimens to laboratories, as well as performing venipunctures and finger sticks to collect blood specimens. Overall, the Research Project Coordinator plays a vital role in the success of research initiatives within the department, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of research studies in the department.
  • Manage data maintenance, grant expenditure adherence, project evaluation, meeting scheduling, and research subject interfacing.
  • Serve as a point of contact for study participants, research personnel, and support staff.
  • Adhere to good clinical practices, study protocols, and applicable regulations.
  • Independently coordinate and communicate with the Principal Investigator, study participants, and sponsors.
  • Recruit and screen volunteers for research studies, developing recruitment streams and advising participants of study objectives, requirements, risks, and benefits.
  • Lead the collection and management of study data, developing data collection instruments and maintaining databases.
  • Perform data quality checks and develop processes to improve data collection and evaluation efficiency.
  • Track, report, and audit study data and regulatory documentation.
  • Develop and produce reports of study data for project staff and stakeholders, analyzing data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Monitor activities to ensure compliance with protocols and relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, emergency services, chemistry, biology, public health, psychology, or another scientific discipline appropriate to the position required.
  • Prior experience in research preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable requirements, regulations, and laws related to research.
  • Skill in effective use of applicable technology and systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
