About the position

The Research Project Manager at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is responsible for overseeing NIH and non-NIH funded projects within the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research. This role involves managing project operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating effective communication among research teams. The Project Manager will also handle data management, analysis, and the preparation of publications and presentations, while leading a team to recruit study participants and develop research strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, preparation, and revision of clinical research protocols and training materials.
  • Train research associates on study operations and appropriate work procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of study MOPs, SOPs, and best practices documentation.
  • Enroll patients and participate in baseline and follow-up assessments.
  • Maintain research integrity and best practices, including required certifications and trainings.
  • Manage reliance agreements, data use agreements, and regulatory items for external collaborations.
  • Prepare reports on the status of research sites and resolve operational issues.
  • Support logistics for new site start-up, including IRB submissions and regulatory document reviews.
  • Coordinate activities from site activation to closeout, monitoring for risks as needed.
  • Act as the primary liaison for assigned sites regarding protocol-related questions and research conduct matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience in a research setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Effective oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration and research objectives.
  • Ability to operate research-related equipment and make independent decisions.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Experience with clinical research studies and knowledge of applicable regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building and using REDCap databases.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
