The Research Scientist I position in the Vos Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a full-time role focused on advancing our understanding of gene expression and genome architecture. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team that is part of a multinational consortium recently funded to develop small molecule compounds targeting proteins involved in the development and progression of pediatric cancers. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research that has the potential to impact the treatment of childhood cancers. The role will involve a variety of laboratory techniques and methodologies, including protein expression, purification, molecular cloning, and cell culture work. The candidate will also engage in structure determination using advanced biochemical and structural approaches such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). The research aims to elucidate the interactions and regulatory mechanisms between the machines involved in gene expression and genome organization, providing insights that could lead to novel therapeutic strategies. This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension, allowing for continued contributions to ongoing research projects and the potential for professional growth within the lab. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in biochemistry and structural biology, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team of researchers.
