About the position

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Health Sciences Research Scientist 3 to conduct translational cancer research focused on ovarian tumor biology, immunology, and immune therapy. The role involves working independently on complex research projects under the supervision of a senior Principal Investigator and supervising junior lab members, including fellows, students, and research technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform translational cancer research in an NIH-funded laboratory.
  • Focus on ovarian tumor biology, immunology, and immune therapy.
  • Develop novel therapeutics for clinical applications.
  • Work independently on complex research projects.
  • Supervise junior lab members including fellows, students, and research technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties specified.
  • PhD in biological sciences, immunology, or a related field (preferred).
  • At least one year of prior postdoctoral fellowship training (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and conduct experiments independently (preferred).
  • Training in statistical methods and data analysis (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring students or other learners (preferred).
  • Authorship on publications in cancer biology, immunology or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with flow cytometry, cell culture, in vivo cancer models, gene editing, fluorescence microscopy (preferred).
