About the position
The MIT-IBM Watson AI lab is offering a summer internship for 2025, aimed at outstanding students pursuing a Master's or PhD in relevant fields. Interns will work in small groups under the guidance of experienced researchers, tackling cutting-edge challenges in artificial intelligence. The role involves research in areas such as new architectures and algorithms for generative models, with responsibilities including problem identification, prototype development, experimental design, and communication of findings through publications and patents.
Responsibilities
- Identify and define research challenges in artificial intelligence.
- Develop prototype solutions for identified challenges.
- Design experimental setups to test hypotheses related to AI research.
- Refine solutions based on experimental results.
- Communicate findings through patent applications and publications in top-tier conferences.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related disciplines.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Java.
- Demonstrated experience in solving analytical problems using rigorous and quantitative approaches.
- Experience in developing, training, and testing deep neural networks.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with machine learning tools and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Experience in developing, training, and testing generative models, such as LLMs or multi-modal foundation models.
- Ability to effectively communicate research ideas, demonstrated by publications and presentations at top-tier AI conferences.
