The role aims to enhance localization techniques using emerging technologies such as OpenRadio Access Networks (ORAN) and 5G signals, with applications in areas like autonomous driving and mobile healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of algorithmic and system solutions for multimodal localization in Wireless systems, e.g. 5G and beyond.
  • Develop and test algorithms that integrate data from multiple modalities (e.g., 5G, WiFi, LiDAR, Camera) to improve localization accuracy in complex scenarios.
  • Prototype multimodal localization solutions on various platforms, such as smartphones, precision agriculture sensors, and 5G radios.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate system performance under real-world conditions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of publications, technical reports, and project presentations.

Requirements

  • MS in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Proficiency in Python or C++.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in computer networks, localization systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data science techniques is desirable.
  • Familiarity with 5G, ORAN architectures, or with computer vision-based localization is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and simulation tools (e.g., ns-3) is preferred.
  • Understanding of 5G network functions and standards, such as the 3GPP Location Management Function (LMF), is desirable.
  • Enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science or a related field is a plus (ABD are acceptable).
