About the position

The Computer Science Research Scientist position at Saint Louis University involves part-time work focused on developing advanced multimodal localization networked systems. The role aims to create solutions that can operate reliably in both indoor and outdoor environments using emerging technologies, with applications in various geospatial fields such as autonomous driving and mobile healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of algorithmic and system solutions for multimodal localization in Wireless systems, e.g. 5G and beyond.
  • Develop and test algorithms that integrate data from multiple modalities (e.g., 5G, WiFi, LiDAR, Camera) to improve localization accuracy in complex scenarios.
  • Prototype multimodal localization solutions on various platforms, such as smartphones, precision agriculture sensors, and 5G radios.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate system performance under real-world conditions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of publications, technical reports, and project presentations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in computer networks and localization systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data science techniques is desirable.
  • Familiarity with 5G, ORAN architectures, or computer vision-based localization is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python or C++ is required.
  • Working knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and simulation tools (e.g., ns-3) is preferred.
  • Understanding of 5G network functions and standards, such as the 3GPP Location Management Function (LMF), is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science or a related field is a plus (ABD are acceptable).
