About the position

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemical Engineering to conduct computational research focused on developing machine learning algorithms for enhancing multi-scale and multi-physics simulations in catalysis and material science. The role involves creating algorithms for various catalysis processes and non-toxic material discovery, while also mentoring students and assisting in scholarly writing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct computational research on machine learning algorithm development for catalysis and material science.
• Develop machine learning-based algorithms for plasma catalysis, electrocatalysis, and field-enhanced catalysis.
• Quantify local field strengths and predict energetics influenced by fields.
• Optimize catalysis and material synthesis processes.
• Assist in writing scholarly articles and proposals.
• Mentor students involved in research projects.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in computational research and machine learning techniques.
• Familiarity with graph neural networks, Gaussian processes, and graph convolutional networks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a research team.

Nice-to-haves
