About the position

NVIDIA is seeking a Research Scientist in Design Automation to contribute to AI for chip design and accelerated computing for Electronic Design Automation (EDA). This role involves applying machine learning techniques and GPU acceleration to EDA software, collaborating with various teams, and publishing original research. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background and experience in EDA algorithms, machine learning, and VLSI design methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Apply machine learning and GPU acceleration to EDA software and ASIC and VLSI design tool flows.
  • Research and develop innovative EDA software and algorithms.
  • Collaborate with circuits, VLSI, and architecture team members in research and product teams.
  • Publish and present original research at conferences and events.
  • Collaborate with external researchers and internal product teams.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a strong research record and well-referenced publications or patents.
  • Strong background in EDA algorithms and software development, machine learning, and knowledge of VLSI, circuits, IC design, and computer micro-architecture fundamentals.
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience with CUDA and GPU computing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present creatively and dynamically.
