The Data Platform team at TikTok is focused on addressing challenges in big data infrastructure and data products. This team is responsible for developing internal tools related to OLAP DBMS, logging and data ingestion infrastructure, A/B testing for product launches, workflow management, distributed caching, data visualization tools, and big data engineering that supports TikTok's business products. The Compute Platform - DB Boost team specifically aims to build the next generation of DBMS kernels, focusing on achieving the best-in-class query latency and hardware utilization. This team operates the distributed OLAP infrastructure that powers our cloud-native data warehouse, which is essential for data-driven decision-making within TikTok. As a Research Scientist Graduate, you will have the opportunity to design and develop kernel modules or core features for cloud-native distributed analytical database systems. You will conduct research on cutting-edge technology in the database and data management area, identifying potential future directions. This role involves solving unique and complex problems on large-scale, high-performance cloud infrastructure and partnering with various teams to build backend support for cloud-native database services. Successful candidates will be able to commit to an onboarding date by the end of 2025, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.
