About the position

As a Research Scientist Graduate in the Infrastructure System Lab at ByteDance, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge infrastructure system innovations. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about research and eager to contribute to the development of new systems and algorithms. You will engage in a variety of tasks, including conducting research surveys to identify opportunities for innovation, designing new systems and algorithms, and developing prototyping systems that push the boundaries of current technology. Debugging systems and measuring their performance will be key components of your responsibilities, ensuring that the solutions you create are both effective and efficient. Collaboration is a cornerstone of this position. You will work closely with mentors and other lab members, sharing insights and learning from one another to foster a creative and productive environment. Writing technical reports and publishing papers will also be part of your role, allowing you to contribute to the academic community and share your findings with a broader audience. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, including distributed computing and distributed storage and database systems.
  • Proficient programming skills in one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Go, Java, or Python.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong past research experience in infrastructure system areas.
