About the position

The Research Scientist I position at BPS Bioscience is designed to support the R&D team in scientific research tasks aimed at expanding the company's product portfolio. The role involves collaboration with a team of scientists to develop and improve biochemical in-vitro and cell-based assays, contributing to the company's innovative solutions for research. The scientist will also be responsible for maintaining expertise through literature review and participation in seminars, thereby shaping the brand and product offerings of BPS Bioscience.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting R&D Team in identifying and monitoring new trends and concepts for drug discovery.
  • Participating in research efforts to discover, characterize, and validate novel products.
  • Developing novel biochemical or cell-based assays/platforms.
  • Creating project-specific experimental strategies and executing established procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and improving in-vitro and cell-based assays.
  • Preparing research reports and presenting results at team meetings and external audiences.
  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with partners throughout the company.
  • Keeping updated and organized lab notebooks.
  • Supporting technology transfer to QC and Screening service Teams.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biophysics, or a related field with 0-1 years of industry experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with supervision as needed.
  • Adaptable and flexible to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting complex scientific data.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and openness to collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with biochemical enzymatic assays and in vitro protein-protein binding assays (ELISA, AlphaLisa, TR-FRET, FP, etc.).
  • Background in cell culture is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism).

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous hands-on experience in developing cell-based assays.
