About the position

The Seed Science Center at Iowa State University is seeking a Research Scientist I to lead and support research in seed conditioning. This role involves providing technical expertise, managing seed conditioning equipment, coordinating workshops, and contributing to educational efforts. Responsibilities

• Lead and support research in seed conditioning.
• Manage the loan and maintenance of seed conditioning equipment.
• Coordinate software updates from vendors and sponsors.
• Serve as a key point of contact for facility tours with visitors interested in seed conditioning technology.
• Supervise undergraduate student assistants in seasonal seed conditioning activities.
• Develop and deliver customized presentations, courses, and equipment demonstrations for CALS teaching efforts.
• Create classroom materials and extension publications.
• Coordinate seed conditioning summer workshops covering critical topics.
• Promote workshops and build partnerships with equipment vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or related field.
• Experience with seed conditioning and seed conditioning practices.
• Experience with seed conditioning equipment in academic or commercial settings.
• Experience teaching or conducting large group workshops, presentations, seminars, or meetings.
• Experience overseeing interns, student workers, or other staff.
