About the position

Frontage Laboratories Inc. is an award winning, publicly listed (HKSE), full-service CRO/Contract Research Organization operating over 25 state-of-the-art laboratories across the US, Canada and China, and growing over 30% YOY. Our core competencies include drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls for drug development, and core laboratory services for clinical trials. We are looking for a highly motivated Research Scientist I to develop and conduct biochemical and cellular assays used to evaluate potential therapeutics. Assay requests range from implementing kits ("off-the-shelf") to developing assays from scratch following literature review. Methodologies include, but are not limited to: ELISA, MSD, Flow Cytometry, transient and stable cell-line transfection, RNA extraction, qPCR, Western Blot, and luminescent, colorimetric, and fluorescent plate-based assays. We also employ robotic automation to enable high throughput screening. This position works with an interdisciplinary team of DMPK scientists, pharmacologists, and analytical chemists. It is lab-based, collaborative, and client-facing. While delivering accurate, scientifically sound results is our priority, we pride ourselves in being exceptionally responsive and flexible for our clients, using creativity to meet their early-phase drug discovery goals.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run defined protocols for various 96-well and 384-well plate-based assays daily.
  • Analyze results using in-house and client-developed templates.
  • Identify and troubleshoot errors and assess validity of unexpected results.
  • Help develop and establish new assays to address individual clients' needs.
  • Maintain and use cells in culture.
  • Assist with preparing informal and formal protocols and reports.
  • Discuss with colleagues and clients about experimental design and results.
  • Maintain a lab notebook.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with extensive academic and/or industry lab experience required.
  • Industry-based lab experience not required for Entry Level candidates.
  • Experience with ELISA, cell culture, cellular assays, and gene expression.
  • Prior experience developing assays with colorimetric, luminescence, and fluorescence readouts as well as multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Previous experience in a discovery project is highly desired.
  • Understanding of drug discovery processes would be helpful.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills.
  • Critical attributes: attention to detail, self-motivated, willingness to ask questions.
