About the position

The Research Scientist III (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) position at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is a critical role that supports the department's mission and strategic plan. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing scientific research studies within the Demographic Research Section of the Data and Analytics Division, specifically focusing on healthcare quality. This position requires a Master's or Doctoral degree, with an educational pay differential based on the highest degree held. The role involves leading scientific research initiatives, collecting and analyzing data, and disseminating results to support quality improvement initiatives in healthcare facilities and provider agencies. The Research Scientist III will lead the analysis of data and trends to predict serious public health issues, identify risks, and develop methods for mitigation and prevention. This includes providing expertise in prevention strategies and preparing educational materials for management. The position operates under the general direction of the Research Scientist Supervisor I and may involve teleworking in accordance with CDPH's Telework Policy. Candidates must be California residents and may be required to report to a CDPH office as needed. The role is permanent and full-time, with a salary range of $7,811.00 to $9,777.00 per month.
