About the position

The Research Scientist position at NYU Abu Dhabi involves working within the Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI) under the supervision of Prof Bas Rokers. The role focuses on developing research infrastructure for personalized diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of non-communicable diseases, particularly in the context of brain health research. The scientist will manage and analyze large datasets related to neuroimaging, genomics, and health, aiming to identify predictive markers for cognitive impairments associated with prevalent health conditions in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy solutions for managing and analyzing large datasets related to neuroimaging, genomics, and health.
  • Identify predictive markers for perceptual and cognitive impairment in various health conditions.
  • Work with high-performance computing environments to handle complex data analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders within the institute to advance research objectives.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a relevant STEM field.
  • Experience in database management and data analytics, particularly in neuroimaging and genomics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, shell scripting, and UNIX/LINUX environments.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.
