We are seeking a talented and dynamic scientist to join our Inflammation Research team. This collaborative and interdisciplinary team utilizes cutting-edge technologies and innovative methodologies to advance medicines into the clinic. The successful candidate will drive efforts in the discovery and development of novel immune-modulatory therapies for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and other inflammatory diseases. As a member of a cross-functional team, the successful candidate will lead discovery and translational research efforts aimed at identifying and characterizing novel therapeutics for inflammation targets, including defining and implementing critical path studies. The role offers opportunities for career growth through the acquisition of new skills, experiences, and professional relationships in a fast-paced and resource-rich environment. The position is part of a larger group with efforts across a breadth of therapeutic areas, and the successful candidate will also participate as an engaged member of a collaborative department.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute scientific research for the discovery of drug targets and the development of drug candidates.
  • Independently conduct, analyze, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to support drug candidate advancement.
  • Collaborate effectively in cross-functional project teams.
  • Provide direction to Research Associates or project team members in laboratory experimentation.
  • Contribute to scientific literature and conferences through publication and presentation of research results.
  • Evaluate new technologies and develop new assays to enhance understanding of disease mechanisms.
  • Prepare technical study reports, INDs, and patent applications.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree with 2 years of relevant post-graduate research experience or drug development experience in immunology/inflammation.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience in human immunology, inflammatory diseases, or immune modulation strategies preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in target discovery, translational research, and drug development is preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in the evaluation of large molecule therapeutics is preferred.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in leading focused hypothesis-driven biological research, exemplified by quality publications.
  • Success in working in a cross-functional and highly collaborative team environment, with clear and effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in drug development processes and regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with advanced laboratory techniques and technologies in immunology.
  • Ability to mentor junior scientists and research associates.
