About the position

The Research Scientist Intern in Generative AI Computer Vision Algorithms at Meta is responsible for developing state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and systems using deep learning techniques. This role involves conducting research to advance intelligent machine technologies, improving algorithm efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to communicate research findings. Interns will have the opportunity to publish their research and contribute to Meta's product development, making a significant impact in the field of Generative AI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and corresponding systems, leveraging various deep learning techniques.
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of deployed algorithms based on the project.
  • Conduct research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Enable learning the semantics of data across various modalities including images, video, text, and audio.
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, communicating research plans, progress, and results.
  • Publish research results and contribute to research applicable to Meta product development.

Requirements

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in NLP, Artificial Intelligence, or a relevant technical field.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Experience with Python or other related programming languages.
  • Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Experience in advancing AI techniques in computer vision, including contributions to open source libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Experience setting up ML experiments and analyzing their results.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large scale, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
  • Experience utilizing theoretical and empirical research to solve problems.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks.
