About the position

The Research Scientist Intern position at IXL Learning is designed for advanced doctoral students or PhD candidates who are passionate about education research and technology. This full-time, temporary role involves leading quantitative research studies to evaluate the impact of IXL's products on student learning. Interns will gain valuable experience working alongside research scientists in a leading EdTech company, contributing to impactful research that informs product development and marketing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quasi-experimental research to examine the relationship between IXL usage and student learning outcomes
  • Generate or contribute to new research ideas, methodologies, and analytical procedures in educational research
  • Gather and analyze internal and external data to discover insights for sales, marketing, and product teams
  • Document and disseminate research results through reports and presentations

Requirements

  • Advanced doctoral student / PhD candidate in developmental/educational psychology, educational measurement, evaluation, research methods, quantitative psychology, applied statistics, or a related field
  • At least two years of PhD-level coursework in research methods and/or measurement
  • Deep knowledge in experimental design and statistical modeling (e.g., generalized linear modeling, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, longitudinal analysis)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of psychometrics and measurement theory
  • Demonstrated experience with R or Python

Benefits

  • $15,000 stipend for the 8-week internship
