At Takeda, we are a forward-looking, world-class R&D organization that unlocks innovation and delivers transformative therapies to patients. By focusing R&D efforts on three therapeutic areas and other targeted investments, we push the boundaries of what is possible in order to bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide. Join Takeda as a Research Scientist in Liver Disease Research, where you will be part of a team focused on the validation of novel targets and the evaluation of drug candidates for the treatment of chronic fibroinflammatory liver diseases. In this role, you will apply your expertise in executing in vitro studies relevant to fibroinflammatory liver disease biology and pharmacology. You will play a central role in generating key data for evaluating potential targets, mechanisms of action, and/or drug candidate efficacy and pharmacodynamics. A highly collaborative and energetic team player, you will be a self-directed learner with a keen interest in focused, fast-paced research. You will design and execute relevant target and drug candidate validation studies using contemporary methods and tools, and using a broad range of technologies, determine the mechanism of action for drug targets and candidates with appropriate controls. Your responsibilities will include implementing target-specific assays to assess target and drug activity in vitro and/or in vivo, identifying orthogonal applications of target, pathway, or platform biology in other fibroinflammatory diseases, and participating on cross-functional teams to provide technical leadership in your area of expertise. You may lead an initiative or one of a broader scope with a less-defined outcome. You will prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses in written and/or oral form, proactively identifying complex obstacles to progress in specific areas and recommending and implementing solutions using a diverse set of resources. You will manage a wide variety of tasks, techniques, and projects, integrating these responsibilities to produce quality results with a high level of efficiency, and may act as a scientific mentor to others. Additionally, you will maintain lab equipment and supplies as needed, keep an accurate, comprehensible, concise notebook in accordance with company policy, and maintain a safe and organized lab bench. Effective communication with colleagues and presenting data to other scientific staff or cross-functional project teams will also be key aspects of your role.
