About the position

The Research Scientist position at Children's Mercy is focused on advancing research training and conducting high-quality research in cell and developmental biology, particularly related to neural crest and peripheral nervous system development. The role involves utilizing advanced imaging and profiling techniques to explore cell migration and differentiation, with the aim of understanding and addressing neural crest-related birth defects and diseases.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original biological research in molecular, cell, and developmental biology related to the neural crest and peripheral nervous system development.
• Perform wet-bench experiments using cultured cells and manipulate cell populations and microenvironments in avian and mouse models.
• Utilize multispectral confocal 3D static and time-lapse microscopy for research.
• Analyze research data using cell tracking and machine/deep learning tools.
• Report research results through manuscript writing.
• Attend and participate in educational programs, weekly lab meetings, and scholarly conferences.

Requirements

• PhD or MD in a relevant field.
• 3-5 years of experience in biological research.
