About the position

The Research Scientist position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory focuses on the development, implementation, and analysis of quantum algorithms for scientific data. This role is situated within the Discrete Algorithms group and aims to advance research at the intersection of quantum algorithms, combinatorics, and symbolic computing, with applications in quantum systems verification, error correction, and performance modeling of quantum computers.

Responsibilities

• Developing and analyzing quantum algorithms in different quantum computational models.
• Building mathematical models and solvers using quantum algorithms for scientific data.
• Verifying and validating quantum algorithms using formal and numerical methods.
• Participation in developing and analyzing new computational methodologies for scientific problems, often customized to complex and large-scale scientific applications.
• Delivery and support of mathematical technologies using combinatorics and symbolic computations for various scientific disciplines and applications.
• Active participation in professional organizations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Science, Engineering, Physics, or a field relevant to the job duties of this position.
