About the position

As a Research Scientist at Google, you will be part of an organization that maintains a diverse portfolio of research projects driven by fundamental research, new product innovation, and infrastructure goals. This role provides the freedom to emphasize specific types of work while contributing to the development of new and improved products, processes, or technologies. You will be responsible for setting up large-scale tests and deploying promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories in computer science. Your work will span various domains, including machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, and performance analysis of hardware and software. In this position, you will create experiments, prototype implementations, and design new architectures to tackle real-world problems. You will also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, drawing inspiration from both internal projects and collaborations with partner universities and technical institutes worldwide. The mission of Google Quantum AI is to build a large-scale quantum computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations, unlocking solutions to classically intractable problems. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications. The role requires a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, along with a strong background in coding and research. You will be expected to author research papers, help grow the research business across teams, define data structures and frameworks for research solutions, and identify new research areas through collaboration. Additionally, you will contribute to developing long-term research strategies and conducting experiments based on research questions, all while refining methodologies under minimal guidance.
