About the position

As a Research Scientist in Reinforcement Learning at ByteDance, you will be at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art algorithms that apply to various applications of reinforcement learning. Your role will involve conducting in-depth research and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create enterprise-level platforms that leverage cutting-edge reinforcement learning models. You will be part of the ByteDance Doubao Team, which is dedicated to crafting the industry's most advanced large language models (LLMs) and aims to lead global research while fostering technological and social progress. The Doubao Team, founded in 2023, is committed to exploring and developing large-scale language models, optimizing enterprise applications, and implementing relevant applications such as content generation, reasoning, and code generation. You will also be responsible for data construction, instruction tuning, preference alignment, and model optimization. Your work will contribute to the development and deployment of large language models in a responsible manner, ensuring that the innovations we create are beneficial for users and society at large. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with software engineers and other research scientists, as well as engage with open-source communities and academia to advance AI development. Responsibilities

• Conduct research and develop state-of-the-art algorithms in various applications of reinforcement learning.
• Collaborate with software engineers and research scientists to build enterprise-level platforms with cutting-edge RL models.
• Collaborate with open-source communities or academia to advance AI development.
• Explore and develop large-scale language models and optimize enterprise applications to the extreme.
• Implement relevant applications, including content generation, reasoning, and code generation.
• Engage in data construction, instruction tuning, preference alignment, and model optimization.
• Conduct in-depth research and exploration of more usage scenarios in future life.

Requirements

• Experience in reinforcement learning or its applications to NLP, robotics, recommender systems, etc.
• Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Java.
• Experience with top-tier conference papers, including ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICRA, KDD, etc.
• Relevant internship experience or recognition as winners of ACM competitions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in natural language processing (NLP).
• Familiarity with computer vision (CV) and speech recognition and generation.
