About the position

The Research Scientist, RNAseq position is a critical role within our team, focusing on the application of RNA sequencing technologies to advance our research initiatives. This position is based onsite in Rockville, MD, and requires a PhD in molecular biology or a related field. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in RNA sequencing, you will leverage your expertise in novel method development to impact our research efforts significantly. You will collaborate closely with a team of distinguished leaders in the biotech field, contributing to innovative projects that push the boundaries of current scientific understanding. In this role, you will conduct RNA sequencing using the Oxford Nanopore technology platform, which involves investigating and troubleshooting next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments to ensure assay robustness and the generation of high-quality data. A key aspect of your work will be to decipher the mechanisms involved in the wet lab side of sequencing, with a particular focus on enzymatic reactions. You will be responsible for achieving established timelines, maintaining accurate records of your work, and actively contributing to team meetings. Additionally, you will prepare presentations and communicate findings to internal stakeholders regularly, ensuring that your insights and results are effectively shared across the organization. Responsibilities

  • Conduct RNAseq on the Oxford Nanopore technology platform.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot NGS experiments to ensure assay robustness and generation of high-quality data.
  • Decipher the mechanisms involved on the wet lab side of sequencing, with specific attention to the enzymatic reactions.
  • Achieve established timelines and ensure accurate records of work.

Requirements

  • PhD in molecular biology or similar field.
  • Ability to optimize the platform and troubleshoot issues.
  • Deep understanding of the mechanisms involved on the wet lab side of sequencing, including enzymatic reactions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Deep research experience coupled with novel method development expertise.
  • Experience in data analysis and presentation.
  • Experience with NGS library prep, especially Oxford and RNASeq.
