About the position

The Research Scientist, Systems ML - Frameworks / Compilers / Kernels (PhD) position at Meta involves working with the Triton Accel team, contributing to the development of the PyTorch AI framework. The role focuses on research and development in AI frameworks, compiler stacks, and high-performance kernel development for AI accelerators. The successful candidate will engage in optimizing performance for deep learning models and collaborating with AI research scientists to advance state-of-the-art technologies in various domains such as recommendation systems and natural language processing.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop software stack focusing on AI frameworks, compiler stack, and high-performance kernel development.
  • Contribute to the development of PyTorch AI framework core compilers for new AI hardware accelerators.
  • Analyze deep learning networks and implement compiler optimization algorithms.
  • Collaborate with AI research scientists to enhance deep learning models in areas like recommendation systems and computer vision.
  • Perform performance tuning and optimizations of deep learning frameworks and software components.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • Currently pursuing or has obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++ programming.
  • Research experience in AI framework development or accelerating deep learning models on hardware architectures, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of GPU, CPU, or AI hardware accelerator architectures.
  • Experience with kernel-writing frameworks like Triton or CUDA.
  • Experience with compiler optimizations such as loop optimizations, vectorization, and parallelization.
  • Familiarity with MLIR, LLVM, IREE, XLA, TVM, Halide.
