About the position

As a Research Scientist at Schreiber Foods, you will be responsible for developing innovative products and manufacturing processes to meet customer needs. This role involves modifying existing products to enhance quality and reduce costs, as well as supporting contract manufacturing customers through various projects and trials. The position is based at the manufacturing facility in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and includes relocation benefits for those moving more than 50 miles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new and innovative products and manufacturing processes.
  • Modify existing products and processes to improve quality and costs.
  • Support contract manufacturing customers on projects, trials, and startups.
  • Conduct experiments and write reports based on defined work plans.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the R&D product development SOP.
  • Apply quality tools and explore new project work.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop specifications, production manuals, and formula guidelines for new ingredients and formulas.
  • Plan and conduct scale-up trials for product development.
  • Commercialize newly developed prototypes and products.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists, operations, marketing, engineering, and customers to accomplish projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food/dairy science or a related field.
  • 1-3 years' experience in research and/or product development.
  • Experience in cultured dairy products manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of dairy components.
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with regulatory standards and labeling practices in food production.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
