About the position

Teledyne Scientific Company, the central Research Lab of Teledyne Technologies, is seeking a Research Scientist to join its Power and Thermal-fluids group at the Thousand Oaks, California facility. This group is at the forefront of developing advanced technologies in thermal management, energy storage, high energy laser components and subsystems, and micro-fluidics. The Research Scientist will play a crucial role in designing, developing, demonstrating, and validating prototype test units for new concepts that cater to both military and commercial applications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary work environment and will be responsible for collaborating with management and technical teams to advance research initiatives. This includes understanding system requirements, identifying solution spaces, and determining technology development paths. The position requires a strong experimental background and hands-on laboratory experience, as well as a passion for new technology development and creative thinking. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional project teams. The role also demands excellent technical judgment, data analysis, and interpretation skills, along with knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics simulation tools, such as ANSYS Fluent or IcePak, which is considered a plus. This position is suitable for recent graduates with a Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Physics, with 0-5 years of relevant experience. However, candidates with more experience are also encouraged to apply, and the position will be adjusted accordingly. Due to the nature of the work, successful applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

Responsibilities
