About the position

The Research Services Analyst at Foley & Lardner LLP is responsible for providing high-quality legal and non-legal research and analysis to support the firm's knowledge, business, and practices. This role involves creating and delivering actionable work products, monitoring service requests, and managing departmental workflow across various time zones. The Analyst will also educate firm members on legal technologies and best practices in knowledge management, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of current and emerging research resources.

Responsibilities

  • Complete legal and non-legal research projects submitted by firm members in a timely manner.
  • Utilize current and emerging technologies, including AI tools, for research purposes.
  • Conduct comprehensive intellectual property research, particularly in patent and IP due diligence.
  • Monitor incoming service requests to ensure high service levels.
  • Stay informed about current online resources and communicate necessary changes to the Manager.
  • Collaborate with team members on awareness and advocacy efforts.
  • Educate firm members on legal technologies and knowledge management best practices.
  • Identify best practices and emerging research resources to enhance knowledge management.
  • Efficiently bill and submit time entries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree in Information Science, Business or JD preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of Intellectual Property research experience in a consultative role in a law firm required.
  • Solid understanding of the legal client/matter lifecycle required.
  • Experience as a practicing attorney, paralegal, or in knowledge management preferred.
  • Advanced computer/technical skills and experience with complex online research tools and platforms strongly preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, Teams, and other applications strongly preferred.
