About The Position

Requirements

  • Experience in developing and conducting studies of extraterrestrial samples and analogs.
  • Laboratory analysis experience of asteroid samples and organic materials.
  • Experience in writing proposals in planetary, astrophysics, or astrobiology research.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts, coordinates, and leads research related to planetary and astrobiology instrument and mission development.
  • Carries out experimental studies of the physical, chemical, and spectral properties of ice analogs and extraterrestrial samples.
  • Leads and promotes collaborations across the NASA ARC scientific staff.
  • Obtains and manages resources and identifies strategic objectives for the organization.
  • Directs outreach and communication strategies for the branch.
  • Disseminates research results through peer-reviewed publications, workshops, and scientific conferences.
  • Fosters a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation.
