About the position

This position provides comprehensive educational and technical support for a research team in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. The role focuses on training new students and staff in molecular cell biology and biochemistry protocols, developing new technologies in biomedical research, and managing laboratory operations including budget and inventory. The technician will perform various molecular laboratory assays and maintain detailed records for research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and train incoming students and staff on molecular cell biology and biochemistry protocols.
  • Develop and validate new technologies in biomedical research.
  • Supervise the laboratory cell culture facility and manage project budgets and acquisitions.
  • Document experimental and administrative protocols.
  • Perform molecular laboratory assays including protein, DNA, and RNA isolations, gel electrophoresis, and microscopy techniques.
  • Genotype transgenic mice and maintain inventory records for breeding and experimental groups.
  • Induce disease models, handle and inject mice, and assess clinical parameters using statistical software.
  • Maintain an up-to-date notebook of experiments and protocols for training purposes.
  • Procure supplies for experiments and maintain inventory of needed supplies.
  • Instruct laboratory personnel in established experimental protocols and innovate new methodologies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience.
