About the position

The Research Specialist will conduct research and analyze data to support the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)). This role involves developing policies and strategies for defense systems and capabilities, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, and providing insights for decision-making processes related to defense acquisition and sustainment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data from various sources to inform decision-making processes related to defense acquisition and sustainment.
  • Identify emerging technologies, systems, and operational trends that could impact acquisition strategies and defense capabilities.
  • Conduct technical reviews, assessments, and evaluations of defense systems and technologies to determine their readiness and effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing policies and strategies for the acquisition and management of defense systems.
  • Provide input on defense programs by researching program requirements, risks, and technological feasibility.
  • Support cost-effectiveness analyses and risk management strategies for defense programs.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, white papers, and presentations summarizing research findings and policy recommendations.
  • Create and deliver presentations to senior leadership and stakeholders to communicate research findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure research findings align with operational and technical requirements.
  • Work with external organizations to exchange knowledge and develop solutions to technical and policy challenges.
  • Provide research-driven insights to shape long-term strategic plans for defense systems.
  • Assist in developing budget proposals and resource allocation plans for projects.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI facility clearance.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of specialized experience in strategic communications.
  • Must have executive level support experience within DoD and other federal agencies.
  • Must have experience in leading and providing technical guidance on multiple complex projects.
  • Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.
  • Must have outstanding customer service abilities, initiative, judgment, creativity, flexibility, and confidence.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
