About the position

The Social Research Specialist I position is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and presenting data related to the criminal justice system in North Carolina. This role involves responding to data requests from various stakeholders, including government agencies and the public, and requires expertise in research methodologies and statistical analysis to inform policy and practice.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining data files for crime and criminal justice system analysis.
  • Applying various research techniques to gather, analyze, and develop data for problem-solving and policy discussions.
  • Modifying or writing statistical programs to process and analyze crime-related data.
  • Developing questions, creating surveys, and writing reports based on findings.
  • Collecting and maintaining records from law enforcement agencies in compliance with federal requirements.
  • Performing computer analysis on criminal justice data for senior policymakers.
  • Communicating analytical results and program assessments clearly in various formats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • One year of related experience in statistical reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience with statistical packages for analyzing data.
