The Research Study Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting multiple multi-center trials focused on inflammatory bowel disease, as well as future research studies in this area. This position is vital for ensuring compliance with human subject protection regulations, educating principal investigators, and managing conflicts of interest, which are significant liabilities at the divisional level. The Division of Gastroenterology is committed to maintaining a high level of awareness and compliance with regulatory issues that impact research, clinical care, and education. The Research Study Assistant will work closely with coordinators and the Research Manager to uphold and set standards of excellence in these areas. This role requires a thorough understanding of policies and procedures that affect the division's responsibilities in research, clinical care, and education. The primary responsibilities of the Research Study Assistant will include data collection and support activities, which account for 85% of the role. This involves maintaining effective communication with the Research Manager, study coordinators, and Principal Investigator to ensure task completion and workload prioritization. The assistant will assist with various study procedures, including organizing equipment, preparing subject source document binders, and managing sample preparation and shipment to laboratories. Additionally, the role includes transcribing interview data, entering data into spreadsheets, maintaining inventory, and assisting with subject recruitment advertisements. The assistant will also be responsible for writing modification forms and adverse event reports for submission to the Human Subjects Committee, preparing study packets for review, and assisting with subject visits. The remaining 15% of the role involves general office support, which includes providing administrative assistance to the Research Manager and maintaining regulatory files and binders. This position is essential for ensuring that the division adheres to all necessary regulations and maintains high standards in research practices.
