About the position

The Research Study Coordinator coordinates the collection, analysis, processing, and reporting of data and assists the Principal Investigator (PI) in judging the validity of test data obtained in regard to biomedical and/or social-behavioral research studies of limited complexity involving co-investigators, multiple campuses, and/or universities. This position requires strict adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and all relevant local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy, and procedures developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). The Research Study Coordinator performs recruitment and data collection for the MESA MIND Research Study at Northwestern University under the direction of the Project Manager and PI. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, collecting samples, recording data, and scoring and sending results. The position also requires traveling to participant homes throughout Chicagoland and suburbs to conduct study visits.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews & obtains informed consent.
  • Schedules study visits with participants.
  • Conducts interviews.
  • Scores test results.
  • Collects survey data.
  • Enters all data into multiple databases, spreadsheets, and calendars.
  • Performs blood draws, urine collection and processing, and all aspects of research participants' visits, including height, weight, blood pressure, questionnaire administration, and cognitive function testing.
  • Participates in study meetings.
  • Prepares the charts for the participant visits, sets up and cleans exam rooms before and after visits, enters data as needed, performs data and equipment quality control checks.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required.
  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
  • Able to read, write, and speak fluent Chinese in either Mandarin or Cantonese dialect.

  • Previous phlebotomy and blood processing experience.
  • Previous practical research study or related experience.
  • Experience performing health assessments.
