The Research System Analyst position at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a full-time role within the IT EDW Operations team, primarily focused on supporting the Academic Research Services (ARS) team. The incumbent will play a crucial role in assisting the UCSF Research Compliance groups by creating, communicating, and implementing system requirements, configuring system functionalities to meet end-user needs, and troubleshooting system issues. This position will also involve the development of ad hoc reports and support for various projects, including the integration of IRB compliance system data with other research administration systems. The analyst will help establish objectives and work plans, performing necessary tasks to align with agreed-upon outcomes. In this role, the Research System Analyst will be heavily involved in system analysis, data migration, system demonstrations, configuration, testing, and support. They will develop system documentation to aid users in managing and utilizing the system effectively. The incumbent will analyze complex issues, document use cases, and work within defined procedures, recommending appropriate actions based on their findings. A deep understanding of the system is essential to provide adequate support for end users. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders in the research areas, including departmental IT resources and third-party vendors, to configure the system and report necessary changes to meet business processes and requirements. They will provide recommended technical solutions and tools, supported by central IT, to enhance or expand current offerings that meet business and security requirements. The Research System Analyst will work closely with the IRB Compliance System Supervisor, Research Systems Business Analysis, Research Solutions Architect, and BSIP Program Manager, as well as various members of the ARS team, to oversee the implementation, setup, and management of research services and support. Additionally, they will engage with UCSF's central IT teams to understand how their services can meet the research community's requirements, covering areas such as security, compliance, research data, and research administrative applications.
