About the position

The Research Technician Assistant (RTA) position is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to start a career in preclinical research. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the in-life personnel by conducting daily processes that are essential for advancing human health science research. The RTA will work closely with small teams, contributing to the overall care and maintenance of laboratory environments, particularly in relation to animal research. The role requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and orderly laboratory, ensuring that all equipment is properly operated and maintained, and that all procedures are followed according to established protocols. In this position, the RTA will be responsible for various tasks including study preparation, which involves labeling and organizing necessary materials such as tubes and reagents. The RTA will also be tasked with ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory inventory records, and assisting in the setup and cleanup of procedures. Proper documentation is critical in this role, as the RTA will ensure that all laboratory reagents are accurately labeled and that hazardous chemicals are disposed of according to safety regulations. The position also involves performing paraffin tissue processing and adhering to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations during documentation and data review practices. The RTA will work under the direction of management and will be expected to participate in continual GLP training to ensure compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of management.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment.
  • Operates and maintains equipment.
  • Perform study preparation per SOP/Protocol (Labels, tubes, etc.).
  • Ordering of warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records.
  • Assist in procedure set-up and clean up.
  • Ensures proper documentation and labeling of laboratory reagents.
  • Disposition of hazardous chemical, generation of the hazardous chemical lab pack and data entry to the laboratory hazardous chemical records.
  • Performs paraffin tissue processing.
  • Documentation and data review practices in compliance with GLP regulations.
  • Assists staff with study-related procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 0-1 years in a regulated environment preferred, but not required.
  • Basic computer skills including Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as study schedules, SOP's etc.
  • Working knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Continual GLP training.
