About the position

The Research Technician II plays a crucial role in supporting the Research & Development program by coordinating research trials, managing data and reports, and executing technical activities. This position involves maintaining technical documentation, coordinating product testing programs, and assisting in product development and process improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain departmental technical documentation including protocols, reference and training documents, and standard operating procedures.
• Enter and manage data and reports, ensuring accuracy and conducting required evaluations.
• Coordinate product testing programs and manage research requests with laboratories or animal testing facilities.
• Assist with the experimentation of new products and create prototype samples for initiatives.
• Provide technical support to product development and process improvement teams, including data and sample collection.
• Participate in team development and communication, ensuring best practices are followed and issues are addressed promptly.
• Familiarize with Simmons operating systems and maintain responsibility for supporting these systems.

Requirements

• Excellent math skills for critical measurement.
• Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Gmail.
• Comfortable working with pilot plant and laboratory equipment.
• Minimum of a college diploma in math or science preferred, or three years in a research technical role.

Nice-to-haves

• College degree in Biology, Animal Science, or Food Science preferred.
• Experience in a feed ingredient or food processing organization.
