About the position

The Research Technician II in Neurology at the University of Washington plays a crucial role in supporting animal training, testing, and scanning procedures. This position involves assisting with various research studies, including data collection, equipment maintenance, and animal care, while ensuring compliance with safety protocols in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection and preparation of solutions.
  • Assists with large animal studies and PET/MRI scans.
  • Sets up scans, surgeries, and recording experiments.
  • Organizes, edits, backs up, and disseminates video and computer-based data.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Prepares and maintains records relating to animals, reporting signs of illness/problems to facility supervisor and/or veterinary staff.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained according to established procedures.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning, including ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
