About the position

The Research Technician III position in the Molecular and Human Genetics division focuses on conducting research related to human lung development and associated disorders. The role involves utilizing clinical specimens and human cell lines to identify novel genes and mechanisms of gene regulation, as well as biomarkers for clinical application. The successful candidate will engage in various laboratory tasks, including cell culture studies, literature research, and presenting findings in lab meetings, while working with advanced technologies in genetics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature research and summarize findings for specific studies.
  • Perform cell culture experiments under supervision.
  • Prepare solutions and reagents for project execution.
  • Utilize molecular biology and genetics methods in research.
  • Document experimental results and maintain an organized research notebook.
  • Present ongoing work and data in lab meetings.
  • Utilize software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Endnote, and R for research purposes.
  • Execute DNA and RNA manipulations including purification, quantification, PCR, qPCR, and restriction enzyme digestion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field, or four years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • One year of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Experience in human and/or molecular genetics.
  • Familiarity with genomic analyses, gene cloning, and human cell culture.
  • Prior experience in developmental genetics.
