About the position

The Research Technician III position in the Single Cell Genomics Core at Baylor College of Medicine involves performing spatial transcriptomic analysis to support cutting-edge research projects. The role requires a motivated individual who can quickly learn new technologies and contribute to understanding the spatial organization of gene expression within tissues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform single cell spatial experiments using Merscope and Xenium Platform.
  • Conduct tissue staining including H&E stain and IHC.
  • Transfer data to customers.
  • Train and support customers.
  • Assemble and operate laboratory apparatus and equipment.
  • Record and evaluate data in accordance with methods requested.
  • Maintain records of samples received, data produced, and their location.
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies and equipment.
  • Create and manage receipts for purchased items, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all financial transactions related to lab operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field (or four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement).
  • One year of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • One year or more of research experience in molecular biology.
  • Experience in techniques related to DNA and RNA handling is highly desired.
  • Previous experience in histology is a plus, but not essential.
